Wellness Wire is committed to making our editorial work readable for everyone, including readers who use assistive technology — screen readers, switch devices, voice control, and braille displays. This statement describes our conformance target, the measures we take, and how to report accessibility barriers when you find them.

Our Commitment

We hold ourselves to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our conformance target for the Services. The goal is not a badge — it is that a reader with a disability can read, subscribe, and contact us with the same ease as any other reader.

Where the current implementation does not meet AA, we document the gap, assign it to a sprint, and list it in the "Known Limitations" section of this statement until it is resolved.

Measures We Take

The specific practices below are part of our production template and are audited against each release:

Semantic Structure

Headings, lists, landmarks, and form labels use the correct HTML element so that screen-reader navigation works out of the box. We do not use ARIA roles as a substitute for native semantics.

Color & Contrast

Body text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background; decorative type meets 3:1 where permitted. Color is never the only signal for meaning (e.g., a category kicker uses both a color and a text label).

Keyboard Navigation

Every interactive element is reachable with the keyboard and carries a visible focus ring. The focus order follows the document order on the page.

Motion

Animations honor the `prefers-reduced-motion` media query. With it set, transitions collapse and autoplay is paused.

Images & Illustrations

Every editorial illustration carries descriptive alt text written by the piece's art director; purely decorative graphics are marked as such so screen readers skip them.

Conformance Status

The Services are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform. Our open accessibility issues are tracked publicly; we publish a quarterly accessibility review.

Known Limitations

The following items fall short of our AA target as of the effective date above:

Data Visualizations

Some inline charts render as SVG without a text-equivalent data table. We are rolling out an always-on "View as table" toggle adjacent to every chart; coverage is currently at the GLP-1 desk and will extend across the site by the end of the quarter.

Assessment Approach

Wellness Wire assessed the Services through a combination of automated tooling, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and an annual third-party audit. Our next third-party audit is scheduled for September 2026; the public summary will be posted here.

Feedback

If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please tell us. Email accessibility@wellnesswire.com with a description of the issue, the page URL, and — if applicable — the assistive technology you were using. We aim to acknowledge reports within two business days.
