Information We Collect
We collect three categories of information: information you provide to us directly, information collected automatically when you use the Services, and information we receive from third parties.
Information You Provide
When you create an account, subscribe to a newsletter, submit a reader question, or contact us, we collect the information you give us — typically an email address, a name (optional), and the content of your communication.
If you subscribe to a paid product, our payment processor collects payment information on our behalf. We do not store full card numbers.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Services we collect limited technical information: IP address, approximate geographic region derived from that address, device and browser type, pages requested, referring URL, and timestamps.
We use a small set of first-party cookies to remember your preferences and, if you are logged in, your session. See our Cookie Policy for details.
Information From Third Parties
If you sign in using a third-party identity provider (for example, a passwordless email link via our auth provider), that provider shares the email address you used to sign in and a unique identifier with us.
How We Use Information
We use personal information to operate the Services and to communicate with you. Specifically:
To Provide the Services
Publish articles, send the newsletters you subscribe to, authenticate your account, and process subscription payments.
To Improve Editorial & Product
Understand which articles readers find valuable, which newsletter formats are read, and where the reading experience breaks. We look at this information in aggregate; we do not profile individual readers for commercial targeting.
To Communicate With You
Respond to emails you send us, notify subscribers of material changes to these policies, and send transactional messages (password resets, receipt emails). We do not sell your information or rent it to third-party marketers.
Your Choices
You can unsubscribe from a newsletter using the link at the bottom of any issue, or from your subscription preferences page while logged in.
You can delete your account at any time from the account settings page; doing so removes your profile and subscription records. We retain certain transactional records where required by law.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal information.
California Residents
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, gives California residents the right to request information about the personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of certain disclosures. See our "Do Not Sell or Share" page for how to exercise these rights.
EEA, UK, and Swiss Residents
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (or its UK/Swiss equivalents) gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Contact legal@wellnesswire.com to exercise these rights.
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as needed to provide the Services and meet our legal obligations. Account information is retained for the life of the account plus up to one year; newsletter subscription records are retained for the life of the subscription plus thirty (30) days; server logs are retained for up to ninety (90) days.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect personal information — encrypted connections, encrypted storage for sensitive fields, and access controls for staff. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If we become aware of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you in accordance with applicable law.
Children
The Services are not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Data Transfers
Wellness Wire is based in the United States. If you access the Services from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms to protect your information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced on the site and emailed to subscribers at least thirty (30) days before they take effect.
